"There's NO Such Thing As A Dragon" by Jack Kent
This small picture book was given to my older daughter when she was about 3-4 years old and it wasn't until many years later that I truly understood the adult metaphor.
The story is about a young boy who wakes up to find a dragon in his bedroom. His mother denies the dragon's existence throughout the book. The more the mother says, "There's no such thing as a dragon", the bigger the dragon becomes; until such time as she admits that there is one.
Once this happens, the dragon becomes a more manageable size and the family's home is returned to its rightful place!
A great story book for young kids, but an even greater one for the adults.
