He visits the home in search of "What's a memory?" because according to his parents, Miss Nancy had lost hers.
Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge gets as many answers as there are "old people". He returns home to look for memories because "Miss Nancy had lost her own." After he collected all he could find, he takes them to Miss Nancy, and then she remembers!
