Teddy Bear Travels

Welcome to the Portal for the Teddy Bear Travels.

Here you will read about and experience some of the many adventures that our teddy bears have had over the course of the 5 years that this program has been running in my classroom.

To give you a flavor of what to expect as you journey deeper into the pages of this web site, I have included a number of photos to get you started.

Happy Trails!

The images that you see are from a number of trips taken by teddy bears. One such trip included a trip to Greece, where Flat Stanley was invited to join the gang. They had the opportunity to visit the Oracle at Delphi and trek up to the Stadium, where some of the first Olympics were held in Ancient times. Lucky, Cornelius and Flat Stanley also enjoyed having their picture taken at the Navel of the Universe.

One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, The Statue of Zeus, in the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, is no longer standing, but the “kids” had their picture taken on one of the many sections of the temple’s column that had been destroyed in an earthquake. These Doric column pieces are massive, and the holes that you see in the center of the Click here for larger view.column piece were areas that helped to secure, with a “pin”, each subsequent column piece to its adjacent column piece. It also allowed for some movement of the entire column without being destroyed. So, a catastrophic event must have occurred for all of these pieces to have fallen and landed as they did. Not far from the Temple of Zeus is Hera’s Temple, where the lighting of the Olympic flame takes place to signal the beginning of the Olympics.

A number of the teddy bears have landed on cruise ships. It was a tough job to keep the bears from eating all the food, but since there is so much food, and people can eat at any time, there was plenty for everyone.

The cruise ships would dock at various ports throughout the trip and the bears just love having their pictures taken on the signs.

Often the bears spent time with some very interesting characters on the cruise ships.

In the Bahamas, the Hotel Atlantis can be seen in the background. Such a life these bears lead.

Teddy bear travels would not be complete without a trip to Paris. The Louvre, climbing the Eiffel Tower, and getting their picture taken on a Smart Car, were just a few of the exciting times that the bears have had. The picture to the right shows Sparkles and Antigone playing around on the telescope viewfinder that you can look through to see the sites of Paris, from Level 2 of the Eiffel Tower. The wire mesh that you see in the background helps to keep everyone, including the bears, safe. The teddy bears then decided that these heights were so exciting that they climbed to the top of Notre Dame, and had their picture taken with a gargoyle. They loved that. The bears say that the Gargoyles get lots of visitors, especially the ones with wings.

Northern Europe features many beautiful countrysides and sites to be seen. Of course the bears were only interested in those things that were at their level. And the Dutch Shoes they found in Holland were just what they were looking for.

All of this travelling has made the bears soooooo hungry! When they order their dessert, it doesn’t usually last very long!
