Women's Only Triathlon Success
Well, Tatum has enjoyed another successful trip to the most recent women's only triathlon held in Milton, August 31, 2008! This was the second triathlon that Tatum attended and he had so much fun. He liked it so much that he helped Ruth-Anne get ready for her event, just like last time. He suggested to her that she check out her bike before she started the race. That was such an awesome idea, because it turned out that the air pressure in her tires was almost nothing!
Tatum knows for a fact, that adding all that air to the tires helped
Ruth-Anne race her 10-speed bike past so many of the other riders and
not allow many bikers speed past her during the 20km leg of the
triathlon. Ruth-Anne told Tatum that she biked at a pace of about 28kph (kilometers per hour).
Tatum was so excited to see Ruth-Anne arrive back from the bike race, being about the 6th or 7th biker to arrive into the transition area. The transition area is the place where the racers make the change from swimming to biking and biking to running.
Out of 98 participants in the women's only triathlon, Ruth-Anne came 17th! And, for her age category, she came 4th out of 21! Tatum certainly did not want to give up the photo op that comes with those results. She was also able to take off about 16 minutes from her first triathlon in Bracebridge a month earlier. Go Ruth-Anne!

The final leg of the Sprint Triathlon is the 5km run. And she shaved off about 2 minutes from her previous run.
Here are the final results:
Total time: 1:27:30 hour:minutes:seconds
Age category place: 4/21
Swim 750m: 15:53 minutes
20km bike + 2 transition times: 43:59 minutes
5km run: 27:39 minutes
As soon as Tatum figures out how to upload some video files of RA's triathlon, will see them posted here.
