The Company

Teddy Bears On The Go Enterprises is a company specializing in the marketing and retailing of resources and products related to Teddy Bears On The Go(R). Teddy Bears On The Go(R) is an approach to learning facilitated by traveling teddy bears. 

This traveling teddy bears approach to learning motivates, excites and encourages students and children to be actively involved in their own learning, while at the same time engages parents, teachers, grandparents and other travelers in a passion for making a difference.

What is Teddy Bears On The Go(R)?

The term, Teddy Bears On the Go, evolved out of a need to find a term, or expression, that would best describe what was happening in the classroom and create a sense of active involvement of a universal ambassador [teddy bear] in the education of students in the classroom.

Each year, for a period of 5 years, teddy bears were donated to the classroom, and students named their bears and gave them personalities.  Together with their traveling totes and journals, the teddy bears would be taken home at Thanksgiving time [October in Canada] to start their journey.  Parents received a covering letter explaining the project and they were asked to give the teddy bear to someone they knew who was leaving town.  Often the family would take the bear on its first journey to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving dinner.

Once the bears started traveling, postcards would arrive at the school and the students would read their bears' travels to their classmates.  Throughout the year, postcards, treasures, emails, and memorabilia would arrive, be shared with the class and displayed.  At the end of the year, students would present the bears' travels during school assemblies, and then again in an evening display for parents and friends.

Over a period of 5 years traveling teddy bears, journeyed to 7 continents and 100s of countries to bring back news, reviews, sites and sounds of their destinations.  The information was integrated into the school curriculum and parents and students, alike, always looked forward to the next adventure of the teddy bears.

About the Developer

The developer of Teddybearsonthego(R) Toolkit is a teacher of 15 years. 

Liz Vanderwater has incorporated her passion for travel, photography, reading, writing, teddy bears, quilting and scrapbooking into the research and development of these products and services.   She has taught various elementary grades, currently works as a Literacy/ESL (English as a Second Language) Coach, made curriculum presentations to teachers, service clubs, school and parent councils, written math and language curriculum, developed the Teddybearsonthego(R) Toolkit and continues to manage her Teddy Bear Business.
